Recent sex cases involving South Florida teachers
Here's a list of some recent teacher scandals in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties.July 28, 2008: Sandeep Munshi, 47, is arrested on charges he molested an 11-year-old girl he had been teaching for several months to play a special type of drum at the South Florida Hindu Temple in Southwest Ranches. The Cooper City man, who claimed on his personal Web site to have more than 100 students, was charged with sexual battery on a child and lewd and lascivious molestation.
June 16, 2008: The Palm Beach County School District revealed the case against Spanish teacher Natalie Fraxedas, who has already been fired after less than one year on the job. Officials said there will be no criminal proceedings against Fraxedas, 23. That's because Fraxedas' alleged sexual relations with one male student she tutored occurred after the student turned 18, and the episodes were consensual and all off-campus, according to a school district police investigative report.
June 6, 2008: Christine Brown Jouini, 38, a teacher at the Center Academy in Coral Springs, was accused of repeatedly having sex with the student at her former apartment in Margate and other locations off campus between June 2006 and September 2007, police said.
May 7, 2008: David Layman, 35, a music teacher at Imagine Charter School in Weston who is suspected of molesting three students, is accused of fondling a fourth boy. A 7-year-old says Layman fondled him twice as he sat on his teacher's lap and again in his office as the boy received a music award, the Broward Sheriff's Office said. Layman , of Tamarac, faces several counts of lewd and lascivious molestation and lewd and lascivious conduct.
Feb. 11, 2008: Liam Turley, 24, a Palm Beach Gardens substitute teacher, was booked into the Palm Beach County jail for lewd or lascivious battery and molestation charges after admitting to sexually abusing a boy since 1999
Sept. 20, 2007: After eluding authorities for 16 days, Andrew Foster, 27, a teacher from Santaluces High School, is arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service at a southwest Florida motel, and later booked on charges of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, child abuse, transmission of child pornography by electronic device and transmission of harmful material to minors.
March 4, 2006: Chad Joseph Stoffel, 29, a music teacher at Summit Christian School in West Palm Beach, is charged with four counts of unlawful activity with minors and four counts of battery of a child
