Administration and Planning Manager - Finance

The Sun-Sentinel, a subsidiary of Tribune Company, is seeking an Administration and Planning Manager for our Finance division.

Position Responsibilities: Oversight of newsprint procurement, inventory, consumption, and reconciliations. Order newsprint through Papex system, track in-transit newsprint inventory, oversee physical inventory in Deerfield and Hammersmith warehouses. Coordinate with Tribune newsprint procurement and newsprint suppliers on a regular basis, and order specialty papers when required. Responsible for annual and monthly closings, variance analysis, financial projections, commercial printing revenue, and monitoring Division expenses. Provide Operations Division with statistical reporting information including weekly overtime and temporary labor expense tracking, productivity measurements, and numerous ad hoc analyses. Must coordinate closely with Operations personnel. Develop Company capital budget, Capital Authorization Requests, and track projects. Reports to Director, Planning and Analysis.

Qualifications & Requirements: Must have a college degree in Business, Accounting, or related field or equivalent work experience. An MBA or CPA is preferred. Should have a minimum of 5-7 years experience in newspaper publishing or related field, with at least 3 years supervisory/management experience. Requires exceptional analytical, communication, organizational, leadership and problem-solving skills. Must be proficient with the use of a personal computer, and with word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication and database software.
