It's that time of year when I try to help outdoors enthusiasts avoid getting holiday gifts they'll never use. Sadly, I have lots of experience when it comes to receiving pathetic presents.

Chumming clinic: George Poveromo, host of George Poveromo's World of Saltwater Fishing on ESPN2, has a free seminar on chumming for mackerel and bottom fish at 7:30 tonight at Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Dania Beach. Poveromo will discuss where to locate mackerel and yellowtail snapper off Broward and Miami-Dade counties and how to successfully chum for them and catch them. Call 954-929-7710.
